Co-teaching in Higher Education

Abstract

Co-teaching in teacher education programs, specifically related to special education, is a positive model to enhance collaborative skills for teacher educators and their teacher candidates/students. Presenters will:

(a) define specific co-teaching models in higher education;

(b) describe barriers to co-teaching in higher education; and

(c) discuss potential solutions to these barriers.

In addition, the presenters will explain specific components of planning, organization, and delivery of co-teaching in higher education beneficial to teacher candidates/students in special education. Finally, these presenters/teacher educators will share their experiences with co-teaching in their specific universities
